Construction Scheduled on Old Dowd and Rental Car Roads: Drivers Should Prepare
Traffic will be intermittently reduced to one lane on Tuesday, June 3 and Wednesday, June 4, at the intersection of Old Dowd and Rental Car Roads (see map below). This is necessary for roundabout construction related to the Airport Entrance Road project. Drivers can expect congestion and delays in the impacted area and should plan accordingly.

Motorists traveling outbound from the Airport should use Josh Birmingham Parkway and Billy Graham Parkway to access I-85 and I-77. To access Wilkinson Boulevard and I-485, drivers can turn right onto Old Dowd Road and left onto Harlee Avenue.

Drivers traveling inbound to the Airport can avoid construction by using the new Entrance Road’s inbound lanes to access the terminal, parking lots and rental car facilities.

Crews will flag vehicles and traffic control officers will be in place to help manage circulation. Drivers in the impacted area should remain alert.

The new traffic circle at the Old Dowd and Rental Car Road intersection is part of the Airport’s new Entrance Road project. Construction of the roundabout will be completed by fall 2014 and improve traffic circulation between parking lots, Old Dowd and Rental Car Roads.
