East Hourly Parking Deck Permanently Closed

On Friday, March 1, Charlotte Douglas International Airport permanently closed the East Hourly parking deck in preparation for demolition, which will begin on Friday, March 8. Electronic signage is currently in place to remind customers of the closing.

Passengers may choose from CLT’s other parking options, including Business Valet, Long Term, Daily and Curbside Valet. Business Valet, located at 5601 Wilkinson Boulevard, with a daily rate of $10 offers luggage assistance and provides a five minute commute by shuttle bus to and from the terminal. Crews are currently demolishing the West Hourly deck. Both the West and East Hourly decks are being removed to make room for CLT’s new Hourly parking deck and Rental Car Facility. The $120 million structure will contain seven levels and 7,000 parking spaces. The top four floors will house 4,000 public parking spaces. The lower three levels will include a rental car facility with 3,000 rental car spaces, check-in counters and a service area to wash and refuel vehicles. The new deck is scheduled to open in November 2014.

Currently, the timeline for the East Hourly deck’s demolition is as follows:
  • Friday, March 1: The entrance to the East Hourly deck closed. Customers may choose among CLT’s other parking options.
  • Friday, March 8: Demolition will begin and is scheduled to take approximately one month to complete.
Drivers picking up passengers are asked to use the Cell Phone lot off Rental Car Road. They may also park in the Daily decks or Long Term lots and take a shuttle bus to the terminal. For more details about parking options at CLT, visit the Parking web pages here.

Return to your vehicle and exit the facility as you normally would.

What are my parking options?
Passengers can choose from CLT’s other parking options, including Business Valet, Long Term, Daily and Curbside Valet. How should I plan to pick up a passenger without an hourly deck to park at?
When picking up a passenger, visitors are encouraged to utilize the free Cell Phone Lot. Just wait in your vehicle and ask your passenger to contact you when they claim their luggage, then drive to either level of the terminal to pick them up.

Can I drop off a passenger without an hourly deck?
When dropping off family and friends, you'll have to do so at the terminal's curbside, or by parking in the Daily decks or Long Term Lots and taking a shuttle bus to the terminal.
