Construction of the new Hourly Deck is moving at a rapid pace. Crews have demolished the Daily surface lot, Hourly deck toll plaza and a connector bridge to make room for the $120 million parking structure. Currently, work is underway to level the construction site, install the storm water drainage system and excavate the deck’s foundation.
The new deck will contain 7 levels and 7,000 parking spaces. The top four floors will house 3,200 public parking spaces. The lower three levels will include a rental car return facility encompassing 3,800 rental car spaces, check-in counters and a service area to wash and refuel the vehicles.
Visitors to CLT will see the structure begin to take shape this spring. Aesthetically, it will resemble the design of the Business Valet and Daily decks. Sustainability initiatives for the project include relocating several trees within the construction site. Archer Western Contractor is overseeing construction. Completion is anticipated for December 2014. |
