Airport Area Strategic Development Plan

Airport officials are pursuing the next phase of an economic development plan, more than 15 years in the making.

To ensure compatible development, the Aviation Department has been assembling components necessary to create an economically viable development area, which will take years to develop and should provide a significant boost to the local economy while also changing the landscape of CLT.

The global initiative has the potential to attract businesses: manufacturing, warehousing, transportation, trucking, distribution, research, development and data to the available 6,000 acres of land surrounding the Airport. The land borders CLT and is adjacent to major highways and the Norfolk Southern Intermodal Facility.
