CMPD Remembers Victims of Domestic Violence

On December 2, 2013, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department participated in the annual tree lighting ceremony honoring victims who were killed during domestic violence related crimes this during 2013.

49 people lost their lives in North Carolina this year due to domestic violence. Three of those victims lived here in Mecklenburg County.   Experts say 85% of domestic violence homicides happen when the victim tries to leave. They recommend having a safety plan in place before you try to go anywhere.
