Patrol Officers with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s North Division have arrested Andonus Purvis, DOB: 12/09/1975, for his involvement in the armed robbery of a Seven Eleven business.
On the morning of Wednesday, January 15, 2014, North Division Patrol Officers were dispatched to an armed robbery from the Seven Eleven, located at 10700 Reames Road. The store clerk advised that a black male suspect entered the store and demanded property. Upon receiving the property the suspect fled the store on foot.
Shortly after a detailed description of the suspect was broadcast to the division, an officer observed a person matching the description, later identified as Andonus Purvis. The officer detained Mr. Purvis. After being positively identified as the suspect, Mr. Purvis was placed under arrest without incident. Officers also located the property belonging to the business on Mr. Purvis.
Mr. Purvis was then transported to police headquarters where he was interviewed by Armed Robbery Unit Detectives. At the conclusion of the interview Mr. Purvis was charged with Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon. He was then transported to the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office where he remains in custody.
Thanks to a rapid response by North Division Patrol Officers, an active circulation, and collaboration with the Armed Robbery Unit, Mr. Purvis was quickly taken into custody and charged without incident.
