North Tryon Division officers with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department have arrested Ernest Dorsett, DOB: 07/27/1997, and Jason Currington, DOB: 02/27/1995, for their involvement in an attempted armed robbery case. On Monday, May 26, 2014, at approximately 3:00 a.m., patrol officers were dispatched to an armed robbery call for service at 5920 N. Tryon Street.

The victim stated he was walking home from a friend’s house when he was approached by two suspects who demanded money before one of the suspects threatened him with a knife.  The victim ran and flagged down a car occupied by two men who got out of the vehicle and began to chase the suspects.  The men were able to give a detailed description of the suspects and their direction of travel to patrol officers who responded to the armed robbery incident.

Officers located the suspects a short time later on N. Tryon Street and Arrowhead Drive. The victim positively identified Ernest Dorsett and Jason Currington as the two suspects who attempted to rob him. Dorsett and Currington have been charged with attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon and conspiracy to commit robbery.

These arrests were a direct result of the actions of the men who got involved to assist the victim in addition to solid work by patrol officers in the field.  Anyone with additional information concerning this case and or these suspects is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 704.334.1600.
