Robbery Unit Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department have charged Maceo Royster, DOB: 05/16/1996, Antonio Worthy, DOB: 07/31/1996, and a 15 year old male juvenile for their involvement in an armed robbery case that occurred in the Hickory Division.
On Monday, March 24, 2014, at approximately 9:51 p.m., Hickory Grove Division patrol officers responded to 6300 Albemarle Road in reference to an armed robbery from business call for service at the Sam’s Mart. The clerk told responding officers that two suspects entered the store and pointed a gun at him demanding money from the business. After taking the money the suspects fled the scene in an unknown direction. The clerk provided a description of the suspects and that information was broadcasted to officers who were circulating the area.
As a Hickory Grove Division patrol officer was responding to the call for service, he noticed a suspect fleeing the scene. The patrol officer chased the suspect on foot and took him in to custody without incident. The suspect was later identified as Antonio Worthy.
Robbery detectives were notified and responded to the scene to begin their investigation. During the investigation, Mr. Royster and the juvenile were identified as suspects. Detectives along with additional patrol officers located and arrested Mr. Royster and the juvenile at a residence nearby. All three suspects were taken to police headquarters where they were interviewed by robbery detectives.
Upon completion of the interviews, Mr. Worthy and the 15 year old juvenile were charged with Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon and Conspiracy to Commit Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon. Mr. Royster was charged with Conspiracy to Commit Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon. Mr. Worthy and Mr. Royster were then transferred to the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office. The juvenile was transported to a juvenile detention center.
