CMPD Military Recruiting Program

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police department takes great pride in supporting our brave men and women who serve and sacrifice for our country. Many of the values and attributes military members exhibit are what we look for to represent our department.  We are a strong advocate of hiring veterans and provide veterans with opportunities to join our ranks with our base testing program. Eligible participants in this program do not need to apply through the normal process.

The CMPD Military Recruitment program has three advantages that we are proud to provide to those that served.

1. The Military Base Testing program is available to military members in the following categories;

-Active Duty military

-Reserve members

-Guard members

-Retired (with 20 years or more) military service

 You must show your military ID to test.

2. Those that take and pass the written test under the Military Base Testing program have an extended submission time for their background packet.

3. The CMPD Academy is a VA Vocational Institute. This allows veterans to apply for benefits through the VA to augment their base salary while in training.
