Pay: 

  • Entry level pay is $$ 41,697 (Lateral transfer start at a minimum of $43,791.00)
  • 5% increase for Associate’s Degree
  • 10% increase for Bachelor’s Degree
  • 5% pay incentive for proficiency in Spanish, Vietnamese, and Laotian must pass proficiency test)
  • 5% pay incentive for Police Training Officer (PTO) status
  •  If you are eligible to receive GI Bill Benefits, you may qualify to receive an additional monthly supplement through the Veterans Apprenticeship Training Program

 

Benefits:
  • Uniforms, shoes and equipment are furnished
  • 10 to 20 vacation days per year (based on years of service)
  •  Medical / Dental Insurance - City pays a portion of the coverage
  • Paid life insurance of double annual salary up to $100,000
  • 401(k) provided by the City of Charlotte - 5% of salary contributed by the city for sworn personnel
  • Workers’ Compensation Insurance
  • Employee Assistance Program - personal and family counseling
  • Educational tuition reimbursement
  • Eligible for full retirement benefits from the city and state after 30 years of credible service or at age 55
  • 2 weeks leave for annual training for Reservists/National Guard (one week is paid)
