The Criminal Intelligence Unit identifies, collects, evaluates, analysis and disseminates information on individuals and groups who are suspected of being involved in criminal activity, or who may pose a potential threat to law enforcement and the community. The unit has many responsibilities that are varied in nature. The unit investigates hate crimes, activist events and potential terrorism actions. The unit works with its federal partners as part of any dignitary protection detail. The Crime Stoppers
program is also managed by the unit. The unit also conducts special investigations as needed and directed by the Chief of Police or his designee.
