Content2 On August 30, 1929 at approximately 0300 hours, Officer Rogers, 33, was on foot patrol with fellow officers in the Paw Creek area, looking into a series of robberies that had occurred in that community. As the officers approached a suspicious, parked vehicle and identified themselves, the driver opened fire. Officer Rogers and the assailant were mortally wounded in the ensuing gunfire exchange.
