VACANCIES ON CITY COUNCIL BOARDS & COMMISSIONS

On Monday, April 13, 2015, City Council will make nominations to fill vacant positions on the following boards and committees:
 
A.   BUSINESS ADVISORY COMMITTEE
One recommendation by the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce for appointment by the City Council for an unexpired term beginning immediately and ending April 28, 2017.

Dale Gillmore has failed to meet the City Council attendance policy requirement.

Two appointments by the City Council for three-year terms beginning April 29, 2015 and ending April 28, 2018.

Nalan Karakaya-Mulder and Todd Paris have completed two full terms of service; therefore they are not eligible for reappointment.

Time commitment: 1-2 hours/month. Meets 3rd Friday monthly at 8:00 am at the Government Center Building, 600 East 4th Street.

B.   CHARLOTTE-MECKLENBURG PUBLIC ACCESS CORPORATION
One appointment for an unexpired term beginning immediately and ending June 30, 2017.

Michael Hernandez has failed to meet the City Council attendance policy requirement.

Time commitment: 2 hours/quarterly. Meets 3rd Wednesday at 12:30 pm at 613 Calvert Street.

 C.   CITIZENS' TRANSIT ADVISORY GROUP
One appointment for an unexpired term beginning immediately and ending June 30, 2015 and then continuing for a full two-year term beginning July 1, 2015 and ending June 30, 2018.

Katherine Payerle has failed to meet the City Council attendance policy requirement.

Time commitment: 2 hours bi-monthly. Meets 3rd Tuesday, as needed, at 7:30 am at the Government Center Building, 600 East 4th Street.

D.   CIVIL SERVICE BOARD
Two appointments for three-year terms beginning May 16, 2015 and ending May 15, 2018.

Ashley Hewitt and Norman Garnes are eligible and interested in being considered for reappointment.

Time commitment: 1 hour/ monthly. Meets 1st Tuesday at 4:00 pm at the Government Center Building, 600 East 4th Street. 
 

E.   DOMESTIC VIOLENCE ADVISORY BOARD
One appointment for an unexpired term beginning immediately and ending September 21, 2016.

LiMia Bowen has failed to meet the City Council attendance policy requirement.

Time commitment: 3 hours/ monthly. Meets 2nd Monday at 6:00 pm at the Hal Marshall Services Center, 700 North Tryon Street.
 
F.    HISTORIC DISTRICT COMMISSION
One appointment for a resident/owner of Hermitage Court for an unexpired term beginning immediately and ending June 30, 2015 and then continuing for a full three-year term beginning July 1, 2015 and ending June 30, 2018.

Lisa Yarbrough has failed to meet the City Council attendance policy requirement.
 
Time commitment: 10 hours/ monthly. Meets 2nd Wednesday at 3:00 pm at the Government Center Building, 600 East 4th Street.
 
G.   KEEP CHARLOTTE BEAUTIFUL
Two appointments for unexpired terms beginning immediately and ending June 30, 2015 and then continuing for full three-year terms beginning July 1, 2015 and ending June 30, 2018.

Dean Pawlowski and Dustin Prudhomme have both failed to meet the City Council attendance policy requirement.

One appointment for an unexpired term beginning immediately and ending June 30, 2017.

Vanessa Kenon-Hunt has failed to meet the City Council attendance policy requirement.

Time commitment: 4-5 hours/ monthly. Meets 1st Tuesday at 11:30 am at Old City Hall.

H.   NEIGHBORHOOD MATCHING GRANTS FUND REVIEW TEAM
Two appointments, one for a neighborhood representative and the other for a business representative, for two-year terms beginning April 16, 2015 and ending April 15, 2017.

Hilary Greenberg (neighborhood representative) and Jerome Miller (business representative) have completed two full terms of service; therefore they are not eligible for reappointment.

Time commitment: 12 hours/ yearly. Meets March, May, April and October at 12:00 pm at Old City Hall.
 
I.    TRANSIT SERVICES ADVISORY COMMITTEE
One appointment for a van pool rider for an unexpired term beginning immediately and ending January 31, 2016.

William Grimm, Jr. has resigned.

Time commitment: 2 hours/bi-monthly. Meets 3rd Tuesday at 4:00 pm at the Government Center Building, 600 East 4th Street.
 
J.    TREE ADVISORY COMMISSION
One appointment for an unexpired term beginning immediately and ending December 13, 2015.

Ann Macon-Ellis has failed to meet the City Council attendance policy requirement.

Time commitment: 3-15 hours/ monthly. Meets 3rd Tuesday at 5:00 pm at the Government Center Building, 600 East 4th Street.
 
K.   ZONING BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT
One appointment for a regular member to fill an unexpired term beginning immediately and ending January 30, 2018.

Tyler Connor has resigned.

Time commitment: 9 hours/ monthly. Meets last Tuesday monthly and the 2nd Tuesday in December at 9:00 am at the Government Center Building, 600 East 4th Street.

 

 VACANCIES ON CITY COUNCIL BOARDS         

 
On Monday, May 11, 2015 City Council will make nominations to fill vacant positions on the following boards and committees:

A.   BUSINESS ADVISORY COMMITTEE
Two recommendations by the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce for appointment by the City Council for three-year terms beginning April 29, 2015 and ending April 28, 2018.

Virginia DeAtley and Will Brooks are eligible and interested in being considered for reappointment. 

Time commitment: 1-2 hours/month. Meets 3rd Friday monthly at 8:00 am at the Government Center Building, 600 East 4th Street.

B.   BECHTLER ARTS FOUNDATION BOARD
One appointment for a three-year term beginning July 1, 2015 and ending June 30, 2018.

Keith Cradle is eligible and interested in being considered for reappointment.

Time commitment: 2-4 hours/month. Meets every other month at 11:45 am at 420 South Tryon Street.

C.   CHARLOTTE REGIONAL VISITORS AUTHORITY
Two appointments for at-large positions for three-year terms beginning July 1, 2015 and ending June 30, 2018.

Sabrina Brown and Venessa Harrison are eligible and interested in being considered for reappointment.

Time commitment: 2 hours/monthly. Meets 2nd Wednesday every other monthly at 8:00 am at the Convention Center, 501 South College Street.
 
D.   CHARLOTTE-MECKLENBURG COALITION FOR HOUSING
Two appointments, one for a legal representative and the other for a representative from the general community, for three-year terms beginning July 1, 2015 and ending June 30, 2018.

Brandon Lofton (legal representative) is eligible and interested in being considered for reappointment.

Ken Szymanski (general community representative) has served two full terms of service; therefore he is not eligible for reappointment.

Time commitment: 4-6 hours/month. Meets 4th Thursday during the months of January, March, May, August, October and December at 11:30 am at varied locations.
 

E.   CITIZENS' TRANSIT ADVISORY GROUP
One appointment for a two-year term beginning July 1, 2015 and ending June 30, 2018.

Frank Kretschmer II is eligible and interested in being considered for reappointment.

Time commitment: 2 hours bi-monthly. Meets 3rd Tuesday, as needed, at 7:30 am at the Government Center Building, 600 East 4th Street.
 
F.    PASSENGER VEHICLE FOR HIRE BOARD
Two appointments, one for a Category #1 representative (taxicab, limousine or other vehicle for hire company owner) and the other for a Category #5 representative (person with a disability or a representative from an organization that represents persons with disabilities) for three-year terms beginning July 1, 2015 and ending June 30, 2018.

Robert Walker (Category #1) and Byron Mumford (Category #5) are eligible and interested in being considered for reappointment.

Time commitment: 1-2 hours/ monthly. Meets 1st Tuesday at 1:00 pm at West Services Center, 4150 Wilkinson Boulevard.

G.   PLANNING COMMISSION
One appointment for a three-year term beginning July 1, 2015 and ending June 30, 2018.

A. Cozzie Watkins is eligible and interested in being considered for reappointment.

Time commitment: 24 hours/ monthly. Meets 1st Monday at 12:00 pm at the Government Center Building, 600 East 4th Street.
 
H.   CHARLOTTE WATER ADVISORY COMMITTEE
Two appointments for three-year terms beginning July 1, 2015 and ending June 30, 2018.

Leslie Jones and Ralph Messera are eligible and interested in being considered for reappointment.

Time commitment: 1-2 hours/ monthly. Meets 3rd Thursday at 3:30 pm at 4222 Westmont Drive.

I.    HISTORIC DISTRICT COMMISSION
Two appointments, one for an at-large representative and the other for a resident/owner of Hermitage Court, for three-year terms beginning July 1, 2015 and ending June 30, 2018.

Belinda Corbus (at-large representative) is eligible and interested in being considered for reappointment.

Time commitment: 10 hours/ monthly. Meets 2nd Wednesday at 3:00 pm at the Government Center Building, 600 East 4th Street.

J.    KEEP CHARLOTTE BEAUTIFUL
Four appointments for three-year terms beginning July 1, 2015 and ending June 30, 2018.

Joshua Arnold, Joshua Middleton and Sara Zdeb are eligible and interested in being considered for reappointment.

Lawrence Ferri is eligible but NOT interested in being considered for reappointment.

Time commitment: 4-5 hours/ monthly. Meets 1st Tuesday at 11:30 am at Old City Hall.
