Several vacancies exist on the following boards and commissions
to which Charlotte City Council makes appointments. 
 
All applicants must be registered to vote in Mecklenburg County. 

VACANCIES ON CITY COUNCIL BOARDS & COMMISSIONS 

The City Manager will be making appointments to the following Board:
 
A.   PASSENGER VEHICLE FOR HIRE BOARD
Three appointments for unexpired terms beginning immediately and ending July 1, 2017.
Ed Ferris, Jonathan Fine and Evelyn Newman have completed two full terms of service.
 
Time commitment: 1-2 hours/month. Meets 1st Tuesday monthly at 1:00 pm at 4150 Wilkinson Blvd, West Services Center.
 
* Applications will continue to be accepted for this Board until appointments have been made.
 
 
On Monday, October 27, 2014, City Council will make nominations to fill vacant positions on the following boards and committees:
 
 
A.   CMUD ADVISORY COMMITTEE
One appointment for an unexpired term beginning immediately and ending June 30, 2015.
Eric Sieckmann has resigned.
 
Time commitment: 1-2 hours/month. Meets 3rd Tuesday monthly at 4:00 pm at 4222 Westmont Drive.
 
B.   COMMUNITY RELATIONS COMMITTEE
One appointment for an unexpired term beginning immediately and ending June 30, 2016.
Melvin Lowery has resigned.
 
Time commitment: 1-2 hours/month. Meets 3rd Tuesday monthly at 4:00 pm at the Covenant Presbyterian Church, 1000 E. Morehead Street.
 
C.   HISTORIC DISTRICT COMMISSION
One appointment for a resident/owner of Fourth Ward for an unexpired term beginning immediately and ending June 30, 2016.
John Luke has resigned.
 
Time commitment: 10 hours/month. Meets 2nd Wednesday monthly at 3:00 pm at the Government Center Building, 600 E. 4th Street.
 
D.   KEEP CHARLOTTE BEAUTIFUL
One appointment for an unexpired term beginning immediately and ending June 30, 2015.
Jaclyn Blair has resigned.
 
Time commitment: 2-4 hours/month. Meets 1st Tuesday monthly at 11:30 am at Old City Hall.
 
E.   PRIVATIZATION/COMPETITION ADVISORY COMMITTEE
One appointment for an unexpired term beginning immediately and ending March 1, 2016.
John Murphy has resigned.
 
Time commitment: 4-5 hours/month. Meets 2nd Thursday monthly at 7:30 am at the Government Center Building, 600 E. 4th Street.
 
F.    WASTE MANAGEMENT ADVISORY BOARD
One recommendation by the City Council for appointment by the Board of County Commissioners for an unexpired term beginning immediately and ending May 18, 2016.
Frederick Hammermann has resigned.
 
Time commitment: 4 hours/month. Meets 3rd Tuesday monthly at 11:30 am at the Hal Marshall Services Center.
             
 
 All applicants must be registered voters in Mecklenburg County.
 
Appointees serve on a voluntary basis without compensation.

All applications must be completed and submitted to the City Clerk’s Office no later than:
Monday, October 13, 2014 at 5:00 PM.
   You may submit an application for any Board or Commission of interest for consideration the next time there is a vacancy. 
Applications are kept on file for one (1) year.
