The Charlotte Fire Department Explorer Post was developed in 1982 with a primary purpose of providing fire service career awareness to young men and women. This is presently being accomplished through a program that utilizes classroom lectures, practical applications, and opportunities to ride along with fire crews. Our program seeks to instill in each explorer member the importance of obtaining a college education, being a responsible citizen, and most of all striving to be all that you can possibly be.
On September 17, 2011 from 10:00am until 1:00pm the Charlotte Fire Department Explorer Post will host its Annual Open House. The event will be held in the auditorium at the Charlotte Fire Department Training Academy located at 1770 Shopton Road. Young men and women between the ages of 14 and 20 are encouraged to come out and take an up-close and personal look at what our Explorer Post has to offer. All young people in attendance will be given an opportunity to register and become a member of our Post.
Parents or legal guardians are welcome to attend. However, if you are under the age of 18 you must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. We will have applications available for completion on-site. In addition, there is a $15.00 registration fee due with your application on the 17th (payable to Boy Scouts of America).
RSVP: Please respond no later than September 14, 2011 to CFD 2012 Explorers Program
