Engine Companies
Every engine company in the Charlotte Fire Department is a triple combination class A pumper. This means that the truck carries water, hose, and a fire pump for extinguishing fires. In addition to firefighting equipment, all engines have life saving EMS equipment, including defibrillators for cardiac arrest patients.
All pumpers in Charlotte have these common features:
Waterous 1500 GPM pumps
At least 500 gallon water tanks
30 gallon class B foam tanks
1-3/4" and 2-1/2" attack lines
5" supply line
Ladder Companies
All of Charlotte's Smeal 105' aerials carry the same equipment as the engine. The ladder company is primarily tasked with searching for lost victims, ventilation of hot fire gasses, and salvage and overhaul.
105' Smeal ladder
Waterous 2000 GPM pump
On-board water and foam.
Hydraulic rescue tools
Rope rescue equipment
Complement of ground ladders from 6-40'
