Guidelines:

The "Tent Guidelines and Permitting Requirements" document below contains information and provisions of the 2012 North Carolina Fire Code. There are some other guidelines as they relate to vehicle display inside tents, etc. so consult with you inspector for more information.

Permitting Requirements:

Download and complete the permit application below, and provide it to the inspector at the time of the site inspection, along with a check payable to "City of Charlotte". For more than one tent, you will need to pay for 2 permits in order to be issued a Multiple Tent Permit. The fee for a tent permit is $130.00, and a Multiple Tent Permit is $260.00. In some instances, particularly for very large tents requiring advanced review of plans, mailing the application to our office in advance may be warranted.

 Site Inspections:

You must contact the Fire Prevention Bureau at 704-336-2101 to arrange a site inspection for approval, and to provide the completed permit application and appropriate fee. A representative MUST BE ON SITE for the inspection. In addition, the assigned field inspector shall be notified of any delay or change in appointment time.
