   1.   Rental Property Ordinance
        
Resources: Deputy Chief Ken Miller and Major Eddie Levins
         Action: CMPD Staff will continue discussion of the proposed Rental Property Ordinance that would require landlords to register rental property and allow for remedial action if crime and disorder calls reach a designated threshold at a rental location. No decisions or recommendations are requested at this meeting.
   2.   Towing Practices at Apartment Complexes
         
Resources: Catherine Zanga and Mark Newbold
          Action:  At the August 24, 2009 meeting, City Council referred the towing practices at apartments to the Community Safety Committee.  The referral ask for the review of the issue of towing practices at apartment complexes within the City, and a report to the full Council.  No decisions or recommendations are requested at this meeting.

   2.  Defining a Pet within City Limits
        Staff: Mark Balestra
        Action: At the March 9 City Council meeting, a request was referred to the Committee to review how pets are defined within the City and to make recommendations for change, if deemed necessary. CMPD Animal Care & Control staff will discuss and review the broader definitions of a pet.
 
 
AGENDA FOR: meeting of the Community Safety Committee held Thursday, February 19 at 12 p.m. at the Charlotte Mecklenburg Government Center.
   1.  FY2010/11 Focus Area Plan
        Staff: Chief Rodney Monroe & Assistant City Manager Eric Campbell
        Action: The Committee will review and discuss the draft Community Safety Focus Area Plan, which was discussed at the City Council Retreat. The Committee is asked to forward to the full Council for their March 23 Council meeting.
   2.  Rental Property Ordinance
        Staff: Major Eddie Levins
        Action: Staff will discuss the Crime Risk Threshold, which is the methodology used to put a location on the problem property list.

        Action: The Committee will review and discuss the third draft of the Community Safety Focus Area Plan and make suggestions as to possible changes. The Committee is asked to forward the draft for review by the City Council at the annual retreat.
