City’s Job Application System Down for Maintenance
The City of Charlotte Online Application System will be taken off-line beginning at 5 p.m. on Friday, August 5. The system will be back online on Thursday, August 11.
We apologize for any inconvenience. This time is needed to implement system upgrades. During this period, no new City job vacancies will be posted. Please return on Thursday, August 11, to view and apply for openings.

Neighborhood Matching Grants Applications due September 15
The Neighborhood Matching Grants Program awards funds to eligible neighborhood-based organizations for projects that will make neighborhoods better places to live, work and play. The program helps strengthen neighborhood organizations, while encouraging increased neighborhood participation and partnerships with the city and others.
The next Neighborhood Matching Grants program application deadline is Thursday, September 15. Any organization interested in applying for a grant must send a representative to a pre-application workshop.
All five pre-application workshops will take place at Old City Hall (600 East Trade Street)
on the following dates:

CATS Public Meetings
The Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) will host several public meetings throughout August to receive input about the Fiscal Year 2013 – 2017 Countywide Transit Service Plan. This is a five-year bus service improvement plan for Mecklenburg County and the region. The next meeting is:

Second Annual 5K Rock-'N-Run August 13
Come celebrate all that's great about the North End of Charlotte. The Community & Commerce division of Neighborhood & Business Services has been working hard to help promote the Second Annual 5K Rock-'N-Run event sponsored by the NC Music Factory and North End Partners business association.

Registration is only $20 if you register by Friday, August 5. Runners, walkers and volunteers are welcome.
All proceeds will benefit Hope Haven, Inc., a foundation that provides life skills training for homeless, chemically dependent adults and families, within a supportive residential environment.

CMPD Special Olympics Golf Challenge August 15
CMPD is hosting a Special Olympics Golf Challenge at the River Run Country Club in Davidson. Mark your calendar for Monday, August 15 and reserve your foursome now.
To register, print and fill out the registration form
and mail it back by Friday, August 5. The entry fee of $85 per person or $340 per team includes range balls, cart and green fees. Mulligans will be available for purchase the day of the event.

The tournament format is captain’s choice with a shotgun start. Prizes will be awarded to the first-, second- and third-place teams, as well as for closest to the pin and longest drive.
Animal Kneads Day
Come out to the Fifth Annual Animal Kneads Day fundraiser at the Great Harvest Bread Company located in the Shops at Piper Glen on Sunday, August 21. Anyone who donates $10 will receive a free loaf of bread.
All proceeds will benefit the Animal Care & Control Spay/Neuter Fund. The fund, solely supported by private donations and grants, allows Animal Care & Control to offer free surgeries in Mecklenburg County.
Last year's Animal Kneads Day raised enough to provide spay or neuter surgeries to 1,228 animals.
