26th Annual Big Sweep
On Saturday, September 29,
Storm Water Services will host its 26th Annual Big Sweep event to clean up local creeks and streams. At last
year’s event, volunteers helped remove more than 15,000 pounds of debris from
local creeks and lakes.

The City of Charlotte is
asking citizens to help control the cankerworm population by banding trees in
Through the City of Charlotte’s Neighborhood Matching Grants Fund, neighborhood organizations
can apply for up to $3,000 to assist with banding trees in their community,
including those located on private property. There is NO income eligibility to
receive a Tree Banding Program Neighborhood Matching Grant; you simply
must be located within or adjacent to the Cankerworm Infestation Area.

Airport to Hold Sixth Annual Runway 5K
Douglas International Airport will host the Sixth Annual Runway 5K Run/Walk on Saturday, October 27, beginning at 8 am. Last year’s event drew
nearly 2,000 runners and walkers and raised more than $20,000 for Lifespan’s
Community Activities Employment Transition Program (CAET).

assists children and adults with developmental disabilities by providing
education, employment and enrichment opportunities. Fifteen LifeSpan
participants currently work at the Airport.

CLT Launches Mobile Site
In August, Charlotte
Douglas International Airport (CLT) conducted a soft launch of its mobile
website. The site includes the most frequently accessed information from CLT’s
website including flight information, parking status, various FAQs and contact
information for airlines and the Airport. Additionally, it reflects components
of CLT’s new branding initiatives, which make for a seamless user experience
when navigating between the mobile site and the Airport’s complete website.
On average, more than
15,000 people visit the Airport’s website each day, with the majority of
visitors using mobile devices or smart phones. CLT’s mobile site can be
accessed from all mobile devices and smart phones. The City’s MyCharlotte mobile
application links to CLT’s mobile site as well. In the future, the site will be
