The Charlotte Department of Transportation (CDOT) will be treating Charlotte bridges and culverts today with salt in anticipation of a winter weather event Friday. Beginning Thursday morning, City Street Maintenance crews will be operating on a “Condition A.” This condition calls for 12 trucks, 24 crew members and four support staff. Black ice is a possibility on bridges, culverts and low-lying areas as temperatures drop overnight.

CDOT will target salting for “Condition A” on
  • Bridges and culverts on City streets and selected NCDOT streets
  • Hospital entrances
  • Emergencies that are called in

As the storm progresses, evaluation of conditions will be ongoing and adjusted as warranted.

Citizens should report icy road conditions by calling CharMeck 311. Also, reports of routine icing on City streets can be called in to 704-336-3200. Actual emergencies and accidents should be called in to 911.
