Community Relations Hosts Discussion on Occupy Charlotte Movement

Tuesday, January 17 - 6 p.m.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Government Center, Room 267
600 East 4th Street

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Community Relations provides channels for communication and dialogue among the City’s and County’s various stakeholders. We invite you to join us on January 17 as we host a community dialogue about the local impact of the Occupy movement in Charlotte.

The purpose of the meeting is to:

  • Give you an opportunity to learn more about Occupy Charlotte and the Occupy Movement
  • Share information on the proposed City Council ordinance prohibiting overnight encampment on public property and guidelines for public demonstrations
  • Solicit your thoughts and ideas about how to collaboratively address such issues as public safety, health, and free speech, as the City prepares for the Democratic National Convention (DNC) in September 2012.

We hope you will join us and share your ideas. Due to the anticipation of high interest in this meeting, please RSVP by emailing Renee Thompson at or calling 704-336-2424 by noon on January 17.
