Cagle Appointed Interim Aviation Director

Charlotte City Manager Ron Carlee has appointed Brent Cagle as Interim Aviation Director at Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT).

“I am very pleased to appoint Brent Cagle as Interim Aviation Director,” City Manager Carlee said. “I am confident that through his leadership, Charlotte Douglas International will continue to provide the excellent service it is known for to its customers, business partners, and the citizens of Charlotte.”

Cagle joined Charlotte Douglas International Airport in 2012.  Prior to his appointment as Interim Aviation Director, Cagle was Assistant Aviation Director, Administration and Finance at CLT, overseeing the Aviation Department’s accounting functions as well  as overseeing the development and management of the Department’s annual operating budget. Cagle also works closely with the Airport’s signatory airlines in the development and management of Charlotte Douglas International Airport’s Airline Signatory Carriers annual fees and charges budget and settlement. 

Prior to joining the City of Charlotte, Cagle was the Deputy Aviation Director for the City of Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport for five years. During his tenure at Sky Harbor International Airport, Cagle oversaw the Financial Management Division, which was responsible for the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report, a $200 million annual operating budget and capital budget. Cagle also brings experience in preparation of offering statements related to issuance of airport revenue bonds. 

Cagle began his career in Waco, Texas as a research analyst with the Economic Development Department and moved into management of contracts. In 2000, Cagle joined the City of Phoenix’s Auditor Department where he held various management roles in the budget office and in neighborhood services before becoming Deputy Aviation Director.

He holds a Master of Public Administration from Texas Tech University and completed his undergraduate work at Baylor University.
