Charlotte, mecklenburg county declare states of emergency
Charlotte, NC—Charlotte Mayor Patrick Cannon and Mecklenburg County Chair Trevor Fuller both declared States of Emergency for Charlotte and Mecklenburg County.
The decision follows an earlier action by Governor Pat McCory, who issued a declaration for the State of North Carolina.  The local declaration will enable the City and County to access state resources—including manpower and equipment support—as needed and directed by the State of North Carolina.  It also makes some of the local costs for responding to the snowstorm eligible for state or federal reimbursements.
If at any point a federal disaster is declared, it would open up the possibility for federal reimbursement requests as well.
Citizens should call 311 (704-336-7600) for all nonemergency inquiries.
