City Manager Ron Carlee has named Sandy D’Elosua as Director of Corporate Communications & Marketing for the City of Charlotte.  In her new position, D’Elosua will be the City’s lead communications professional managing its communications and marketing initiatives and the vehicles that support them such as the City’s website, GOV Channel and social media presence.

Currently, D’Elosua serves as a national director of marketing and communications for Front Burner Brands, a Tampa based restaurant management company housing brands including The Melting Pot, Burger 21 and GrillSmith restaurants.

“In the recruitment for our new communications director, all candidates went through a rigorous assessment process that showed their abilities in terms of strategic planning and collaboration,” said City Manager Carlee.  “Sandy demonstrated a high level of skills as a progressive communications professional.  She joins a highly motivated communications team that is prepared to expand our capability to reach the many different populations of the city through new and emerging media. Sandy’s private sector experience will be especially valuable in thinking outside of the ‘government box’.”

“This is a fantastic, beautiful city, and I want to help Charlotte continue to be recognized as one of the best places to live while improving its engagement with its leaders, residents, employees and visitors,” said D’Elosua. “I’m looking forward to calling Charlotte my new home, leading the communications strategy with this experienced team and making a difference for our community.”

D’Elosua brings a diverse range of experience to the position having worked as a news reporter, producer and public relations agency senior account executive. She earned her bachelors in Public Relations from the University of Florida.

D’Elosua will begin her duties on June 19, 2014.
