City and CMS Officials to Review Transportation Plans for DNC

WHO/WHAT:

Mayor Anthony Foxx and CMS Superintendent Heath Morrison along with senior staff from the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department, Charlotte Area Transit System and Charlotte Douglas International Airport will conduct a press conference to address planned road closures for the Democratic National Convention in addition to other City-initiated road changes necessary to accommodate:

  • CMS transportation needs in the uptown area
  • Temporary transit center and bus rerouting
  • Carolinafest, parade routes and speakers platform
Helpful information about airport travel such as alternate traffic patterns, additional signage, and additional ground transportation will be shared.

Prior to the press conference, Charlotte Department of Transportation Director Danny Pleasant will review planned uptown road closures and changes, and Corporate Communications & Marketing Director Kim McMillan will detail the City’s efforts to keep citizens informed.
