The City of Charlotte has released its due diligence report on the feasibility of encapsulating coal ash from the Duke Energy Riverbend Steam plant at Mountain Island Lake to property at Charlotte Douglas International Airport.
Last March, City Council and the City Manager directed that the study be conducted to determine if placing coal ash from the Riverbend Power Plant on property located at the Airport would be good for the environment and economically beneficial for the Airport.
The report was provided today to members of the City Council Environment Committee. It is now available here.
