Charlotte Mayor and City Council announced today that Julie Burch will serve as Interim City Manager while the search process for a new City Manager is under way.
Currently an Assistant City Manager for the City of Charlotte, Burch is responsible for environment, neighborhoods and housing activities for the City. Burch led the development of the City’s first Focus Area Plan for the Environment as well as annual updates. Burch is the lead staff member for two City Council Committees: Environment and Housing and Neighborhood Development. She also chairs a multidisciplinary staff team to develop and implement environmental policies and programs and represents the City in several regional environmental initiatives related to sustainability. Burch also leads a team composed of internal City departments and external service agency representatives working together to best leverage information and resources to improve Charlotte’s quality of life.
Burch joined the City of Charlotte in 1987. She began her full-time public service career with the City of Phoenix, Arizona. She served Phoenix for 12 years, the last three as the Assistant Management and Budget Director. Click here
