Expect Delays Near the Airport due to Construction
Drivers can expect delays near Charlotte Douglas International Airport on Little Rock and Old Dowd roads beginning Monday, September 9 and running through mid-November due to construction of the Airport’s new entrance road.
Crews plan to close the turning lane on Little Rock Road at the intersection of Old Dowd Road and Wilkinson Boulevard.
To help ease congestion, access between Little Rock Road to Old Dowd Road should be limited to local Airport traffic only.
Drivers coming to the Airport are asked to plan accordingly and use Harlee Avenue or Josh Birmingham Parkway for direct access to the terminal.
To assist motorists, temporary electronic directional signs have been strategically placed on roadways leading to CLT.

The Airport’s new entrance road will improve connections from Wilkinson Boulevard and Josh Birmingham Parkway to the terminal. It is scheduled to open in fall 2014. An inbound lane on Josh Birmingham Parkway to the terminal, however, could open as early as November, creating a more direct path to the Airport.
