Mayor Anthony Foxx will join Chris Finley, a successful Charlotte entrepreneur and owner of Computer Functions, to highlight the expanding opportunities for local small businesses.

This event is part of the Mayor’s efforts to ensure that Charlotte remains a catalyst for job growth by creating a business friendly environment. In addition to touring the Computer Functions store, Mayor Foxx and Finley will be available to the discuss challenges of being a small business owner and call attention to City resources that assist the expansion and growth of local businesses.

Finley will share his journey to ownership, which began in 2004 when he began repairing computers despite being homeless. One customer at a time, Finley saved money to find himself a home, earn a degree from Central Piedmont Community College and open the doors to his own store, Computer Functions. His seven year journey to becoming a small business owner showcases the resources local entrepreneurs can use to grow and expand businesses.

Charlotte’s local economy is supported by more than 27,000 small businesses, including Computer Functions. A variety of financial and development resources are available to entrepreneurs through the City of Charlotte’s Neighborhood & Business Services department. Charlotte Center City Partners also supports local businesses through their economic development initiatives. For more information, visit
