NCDOT Crews are Prepared for Winter Weather
CHARLOTTE - Crews with the N.C. Department of Transportation are working to keep roadways safe this evening into Sunday morning, as a mix of rain and snow move through the area.
Black ice is a possibility as temperatures are expected to dip below freezing overnight. Ten contract trucks and six NCDOT trucks will be treating bridges with a calcium brine solution, and later with salt to prevent ice from forming.
Crews will work until three a.m. Sunday, and will switch out workers at that time to continue treating any icy spots.
