Uptown Street Closings for CONCACAF Gold Cup Soccer Tournament and Taste of Charlotte

Several uptown streets will close this week for two events: the CONCACAF Gold Cup Soccer Tournament on June 9 and Taste of Charlotte on June 10-12. Motorists are advised to seek alternate routes around the uptown area. Those wishing to attend the events or needing to commute to the center city are strongly advised to utilize CATS buses and the LYNX Blue Line Light Rail.   
 
More details are as follows:
  • Motorists should allow for additional commute time
  • During weekday work hours, uptown workers should arrive early and leave early if possible
  • Commuters should utilize the I-277 loop/exit closest to their location


CONCACAF GOLD CUP SOCCER TOURNAMENT: June 9

Two evening games will be played in Bank of America stadium. A fan festival will take place on Mint Street adjacent to the stadium from 4:00-9:00 p.m. 

  • Streets Closed for Fan Festival: June 9-10
    o   Mint Street between Stonewall Street and Morehead Street will be closed from 6:00 a.m. on June 9 until 1:00 a.m. on June 10.


TASTE OF CHARLOTTE: June 10 – 12

The 13th annual Taste of Charlotte festival will be held on Tryon Street between Sixth Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.

  • Streets Closed for Set-Up at Noon on June 9:
    o   Trade Street between Church Street and College Street
    o   Tryon Street between Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Sixth Street (all cross streets except Trade Street will remain open)
  • Streets Closed for Set-Up at 9:00 a.m. on June 10:
    o   Third, Fourth, and Fifth Streets between College Street and Church Street
  • Streets Closed During Event Hours on June 10-12: 11:00 a.m. – 11:00 p.m. (Friday and Saturday) and 11:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. (Sunday):
    o   Tryon Street between Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard and Sixth Street
    o   Trade Street between Church Street and College Street
    o   Third, Fourth, and Fifth Streets between College Street and Church Street
