Power2 Recycle It! Event in Uptown July 28

Who:                 City of Charlotte Solid Waste Services

What:                Power2 Recycle It! Event

When:              Thursday, July 28, 2011
                         Noon – 2 pm

Where:              Uptown – Intersection of Trade & Tryon Streets

Why:                 Solid Waste Services will be in Uptown promoting the City’s new On-Street Recycling Program and the improved Recycle It! residential recycling program.

A total of 35 recycling containers are available for public use in Uptown. The recycling containers (paired with trash cans) are made possible through the Department of Energy block grant and include signage promoting the Power2 Charlotte campaign. Pedestrians who live, work and visit Center City are encouraged to use the recycling containers to help reduce the amount of materials taken to the landfill.

The City’s Recycle It! program provides residents with every-other-week recycling collection. It’s important for residents to remember their collection week, items accepted for recycling collection and how to properly prepare recyclables for collection.

During the event, Solid Waste Services will have a Recycle It! trivia wheel and attendees will have a chance to win prizes for correct answers to recycling questions. Reusable Recycle It! tote bags with information on both recycling programs will also be distributed.
