CHARLOTTE - The City of Charlotte Solid Waste Services (SWS) has installed three additional dual station BigBelly containers in Uptown to provide pedestrians increased opportunity to recycle and properly dispose of trash. The solar-powered containers were funded through a sponsorship agreement with Duke Energy and are wrapped with messaging that promotes recycling. The containers are located at the following sites:
- 200 East Stonewall and College Street (across from the Westin Hotel)
- 400 South College Street (across from Fuel Pizza; at the Convention Center’s front entrance)
- 200 East Trade Street and College Street (at the EpiCentre)
In addition to Duke Energy’s sponsorship, SWS has also installed 45 new steel recycling containers in Uptown and partnered with ReCommunity to wrap these containers with graphics that include a sustainability message to encourage pedestrians to use the bins to help reduce the amount of materials taken to the landfill. The partnership with ReCommunity also includes the purchase of 17 additional steel recycling containers that will soon be installed in Uptown.
