2012 TAP Annual Report
The City publishes a Transportation Action Plan (TAP) annual report in order to keep City Council and Charlotte residents informed on the progress and challenges in implementing the TAP. The 2012 TAP Annual Report is now available.

W.T. Harris Boulevard/Brookshire Boulevard Classification Studies Community Open Houses:
The City of Charlotte has recently initiated a study to develop an overall plan for roadway classification of WT Harris Boulevard and Brookshire Boulevard that will affect motorists, pedestrians, bicyclists, and development along the corridor over time.
Curb Lane Management Study:
The CDOT has implemented recommendations from the Curb Lane Management Study on Tryon Street. So far, the new signage and designation of curb use has been a success. Next steps are to implement the recommendations on all Center City Streets.
Reverse Angle Parking:
There is a new way to park in Charlotte. With reverse angle parking or back-in parking, you will back into a space so that the front of your car is facing the street.
Bimodal Flashing Yellow Arrow Signal:
CDOT has begun installing new three-section flashing yellow arrow traffic signals that use a bimodal arrow.
Uptown Loop Study Public Workshop:
As Charlotte grows, there is a need to evaluate the future capacity, operational and safety conditions of the Uptown Loop.

CDOT, along with Duke Energy and the City’s Corporate Communications Department created a video on how to report a street light outage.
Euclid Avenue Traffic Calming Study:
Euclid Avenue is being impacted by the Myrtle/ Morehead Storm Drainage Improvement Project.
Charlotte Receives the Walk Friendly Community Bronze Level Designation:
Charlotte has been designated a "Bronze Level" Walk Friendly Community (WFC) by the Pedestrian and Bicycle Information Center (PBIC).
TAP 5-Year Update:
The Transportation Action Plan (TAP) is the City's comprehensive transportation plan, originally adopted in 2006 and updated in 2011.
Pedestrian and Bicycle Safety Videos:
CDOT, along with the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department and the City’s Corporate Communications Department created two safety videos. One deals with pedestrian safety and the other, bicycle safety.
The City of Charlotte adopted a newsrack ordinance effective July 1, 2009. It is a citywide ordinance with a special, modular newsrack zone on Tryon Street between 9th and Hill streets.
