Communicated: May 31, 2013
Closure dates: June 3, 2013 – June 15, 2013
The 700 and 800 blocks of East Trade Street (shown in red) between Alexander Street and McDowell Street will close on Monday, June 3, 2013 at 9:00 a.m. and will reopen on Saturday, June 15, 2013 at 6:00 p.m. During the same time, the intersection of Myers Street and Trade Street will also be closed. This closure is necessary to accommodate storm water line construction related to the CityLYNX Gold Line – Phase 1. Motorists can expect congestion and additional delays in the project area.
Motorists on eastbound East Trade Street can use North Davidson Street, East Fifth Street, and North McDowell Street as a detour (shown in magenta on map below). Westbound motorists on Trade Street can use South McDowell Street, East Fourth Street and North Davidson Street (shown in blue on below map). Motorist needing to access Myers Street should do so from East Fifth Street (shown in green arrows).
Local access will be maintained.
CATS will be affected.
Weather and unforeseen circumstances occasionally prevent work from being completed as scheduled, and make it unsafe to reopen lanes or streets when planned. When this occurs, City traffic engineers work directly with other City staff and contractors to resolve the situation as quickly as possible and reduce impacts to the traveling public.
Pedestrians walking near work zone areas should be alert, cautious and allow extra traveling time. It is advised they cross at signalized intersections, use pedestrian walk signals where available and abide by detour signage.
Motorists traveling through work zone areas should be alert and extra cautious. Drivers should get in the correct lane well in advance and constantly be on the lookout for vehicles merging into adjacent travel lanes as they approach a work zone. Drivers should double their following distance.
