Communicated: August 30, 2013
Closure dates: September 3, 2013 to September 20, 2013
The 800 block of Ennis Avenue between Graham Street and Bancroft Street will close on Tuesday, September 3 at 7 a.m. and will reopen on Friday, September 20 at 5 p.m. The contractor will be conducting work for the Tryon Hills Neighborhood Improvement Project. Motorists should detour using Graham Street, Dogwood Avenue, Colorado Avenue, and Bancroft Street. The road will be closed to all through traffic for the period above.
Local access to residences will be maintained.
CATS bus stops on Ennis Avenue and Bancroft Street will be affected. Buses will be unable to turn on or off Bancroft Street, and must use Dogwood Avenue to access Graham Street.
Weather and unforeseen circumstances occasionally prevent work from being completed as scheduled, and make it unsafe to reopen lanes or streets when planned. When this occurs, City traffic engineers work directly with other City staff and contractors to resolve the situation as quickly as possible and reduce impacts to the traveling public.
Pedestrians walking near work zone areas should be alert, cautious and allow extra traveling time. It is advised they cross at signalized intersections, use pedestrian walk signals where available and abide by detour signage.
Motorists traveling through work zone areas should be alert and extra cautious. Drivers should get in the correct lane well in advance and constantly be on the lookout for vehicles merging into adjacent travel lanes as they approach a work zone. Drivers should double their following distance.
