Communicated: March 6, 2014
Closure dates: March 10, 2014 to March 12, 2014
The southbound right turn lane of the 9300 block of North Tryon Street between Institute Circle and J.W. Clay Boulevard will close Monday, March 10, 2014 at 9 a. m. and will reopen Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at 4 p.m. During the same time, one northbound left turn lane of North Tryon Street onto J.W. Clay Boulevard will close. This closure is necessary to accommodate Advanced Public Utility Relocations for the LYNX Blue Line Extension. Turning movements onto J.W. Clay Boulevard from either direction of North Tryon Street will be maintained, but motorists are advised to follow traffic control devices in place at this intersection (shown in red below).
Local access will be maintained to businesses and parking facilities.
CATS will not be affected.
Weather and unforeseen circumstances occasionally prevent work from being completed as scheduled, and make it unsafe to reopen lanes or streets when planned. When this occurs, City traffic engineers work directly with other City staff and contractors to resolve the situation as quickly as possible and reduce impacts to the traveling public.
Pedestrians walking near work zone areas should be alert, cautious and allow extra traveling time. It is advised they cross at signalized intersections, use pedestrian walk signals where available and abide by detour signage.
Motorists traveling through work zone areas should be alert and extra cautious. Drivers should get in the correct lane well in advance and constantly be on the lookout for vehicles merging into adjacent travel lanes as they approach a work zone. Drivers should double their following distance.
