Charlotte Prepares For Winter Weather
Charlotte, NC— The Charlotte Department of Transportation will be treating Charlotte bridges and culverts with salt brine today and tonight. City Street Maintenance crews will be operating six trucks as a proactive precautionary measure in anticipation of a winter event predicted to start as snow on Tuesday.
As temperatures drop and precipitation evolves, evaluation of conditions will be ongoing and adjusted as warranted. Black ice on streets and sidewalks may form quickly. Motorists and pedestrians should be extra cautious and drive slower.
Citizens should report icy road conditions by calling CharMeck 311. Also, reports of routine icing on City streets can be called in to 704-336-3200. Actual emergencies and accidents should be called in to 911.
The Charlotte Department of Transportation's (CDOT) more than 400 employees work together to ensure we accomplish our mission to provide safe and efficient transportation systems that support economic vitality and quality of life for Charlotte residents and visitors. Well-paved streets with lighting, safe and accessible sidewalks, bicycle lanes, neighborhood traffic programs and efficient intersections are examples of how CDOT is "Connecting Charlotte."
