Charlotte Prepares For Winter Weather
Charlotte, NC— The Charlotte Department of Transportation will be treating Charlotte bridges this evening with salt brine in anticipation of a winter weather event late tonight into Tuesday morning. Beginning at 1:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 26, City Street Maintenance crews will be operating on a “Condition A.” This condition calls for 12 trucks, 24 crew members and five support staff.
CDOT will target brining and salting for “Condition A” on:
- Bridges & culverts on City streets and selected NCDOT streets
- Hospital entrances
- Emergencies that are called in
As the storm progresses, evaluation of conditions will be ongoing and adjusted as warranted.
Citizens should report icy road conditions by calling CharMeck 311. Also, reports of routine icing on City streets can be called in to 704-336-3200. Actual emergencies and accidents should be called in to 911.
