Contractors for Charlotte-Mecklenburg Utility Department (CMUD) will replace a 24-inch drinking water pipe under;
Arrowood Road (between Arrowridge Boulevard and near Kings Creek Drive);
Sulkirk Road (between Park South Road and Sharon Road);
Park South Road (between Park Road and Sulkirk Road); and
Sharon Road (between Sulkirk Road and Rutherford Drive).
WHEN: Construction will start on Arrowood Road and/or Sulkirk Road area around March 2014 and continue through March 2015.
WHERE: Most construction will be in the road. Expect traffic delays and detours.

WHAT TO EXPECT: Construction activity will include:
Pipe Delivery and Storage – Pipe is delivered and stored within the construction easements along the street.
Establishing a Safe Work Zone – This will include lane closures and likely sidewalk closures in the construction area.
Traffic & Access – During construction at least two lanes will be closed in the construction area for Arrowood Road, Park South Road, and Sharon Road. Sulkirk Road will be closed for at least two blocks at a time during construction. Expect delays and detours. Driveways will be blocked periodically but contractor will try to coordinate with property owners. Sidewalks will be closed in immediate construction area.
Trench Digging – Most of the pipe is five to ten feet underground.
Placing Pipe and Backfilling
Construction Traffic – expect to see several dump trucks, large trucks delivering pipe, and excavators.
SAFETY: For safety reasons, pedestrians are not allowed in the construction site.
