Arrowood and Sulkirk Road Pipe Replacement Project

Contractors for Charlotte Water (CLTWater, formerly Charlotte-Mecklenburg Utility Department [CMUD]) is replacing a drinking water pipe under;

  • Arrowood Road (between Arrowridge Boulevard and near Kings Creek Drive); COMPLETED
  • Sulkirk Road (between Park South Road and Sharon Road);
  • Park South Road (between Park Road and Sulkirk Road); and
  • Sharon Road (between Sulkirk Road and Rutherford Drive).

WHEN: Construction started July 21st, 2014 on Arrowood Road (at Arrowridge Boulevard) and is complete. Construction on Sulkirk Road began in December 2014.

 
TRAFFIC ALERT:
To accommodate construction for Sulkirk Road Water Main Replacement project closures will occur on:
    + Sharon Road will close between at the intersection of Sulkirk Road on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at 7 a.m. and reopen Sunday, March 22, 2015 at 6 p.m. During this closure, motorists can use the detour route of Fairview Road, Park South Drive and Park Road. During this closure, there will be no direct access to Sulkirk Road from Sharon Road. Local traffic can detour using Brookfield Drive and Severn Avenue from northbound Sharon Road OR Eastburn Road, Anchor Street, Stokes Avenue and Sulstone Lane from southbound Sharon Road.

    + Sulkirk Road is currently closed between Severn Avenue and Sharon Road and will remain closed until March 22nd. Construction will be completed in a block by block fashion, allowing local access only. During the duration of this closure, motorists can use the detour route of Sulstone Lane, Stokes Avenue and Park South Drive. 

    ++ Local access will be maintained to businesses and parking facilities. Sidewalks will be open for pedestrians. CATS will not be affected. Sidewalks will be open for pedestrians.

WHAT TO EXPECT: Expect to see several dump trucks, large trucks delivering pipe, and large excavators.
 
WATER SERVICE: If temporary interruption of water service becomes necessary, affected property owners will be notified at least 72 hours in advance. Unexpected service interruptions will be treated as an emergency.
