Charlotte-Mecklenburg Utility Department (CMUD) is currently updating standard details and the official design manual for engineers, consultants, and contractors.

CAD DWG Standards, Templates and Layers

* Please note that CMUD Engineering drawings are developed and based on 2011 AutoCAD Civil 3D.  At present CMUD Engineering will only accept drawings saved as 2011 AutoCAD and 2010 AutoCAD file types.  2011 AutoCAD file types are preferred when possible. 2007 AutoCAD file types should only be used as a last resort.

Engineering firms not using AutoCAD Civil 3D may experience warnings or errors when using these files.

New Standard Details - The following Standard Details are new or have been revised. 

Please replace old details with current versions, based on subject matter (not Section Name or Number), as updated Section Names or Chapter Numbers may have changed.  The most recent/current versions will be maintained on this site.  Designers and Contractors shall be required to use the current posted version which supersedes any and all prior versions, based on the version number and version date located in the Title Block.

Printing Tips: The Standard Details were developed for printing on Tabloid (11" x 17") size paper.  They may be printed on Tabloid (11" x 17") or Legal (8.5" x 14") size paper and retain sufficient detail and text size to remain useful.  We do not recommend printing on Letter (8.5" x 11")  size paper. Remember to un-check the " Choose paper source by page size" check box when printing to any size other than Tabloid.  You may also need to select "Fit to Printable Area" in the Page Scaling drop down box.

Download Tips:  You may download the individual Standard Details as needed.  Right click the Detail Name which will open the shortcut menu window.  Select  “Save Target As” to complete the file download.

Please review Detail #0 Cross Reference – Index of Water Standard Details for a cross reference between the Old Standard Detail Number and the New Standard Detail Letter designation.
