The Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) has made every effort to provide local bus service today. Continued heavy snow and slick roads has prevented CATS from being able to sustain the level of the service that was planned. In an effort to maintain public safety, the Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) is suspending bus service for today, Thursday, February 13, 2014.
The weather conditions continued to affect CATS ability to pullout vehicles from the bus garages and to provide safe service for our passengers and employee. We apologize for the inconvenience, but safety is our highest priority.
CATS is not able to serve stops with the condition of the roads and sidewalks and we do not want to create hazardous boarding and alighting for our passengers. We also want our employees to be safe.
LYNX Blue Line light rail will continue to provide service but could experience delays based on the weather conditions.
CATS will continue to assess conditions and will communicate through our website and Twitter accounts, the City/County JIC and local media a decision early Friday morning on the status of bus and rail services based on road conditions.
CATS call centers are open if customers need assistance at 704-336-7433. The most up to date information on bus routes operating, detours or delays is available on CATS website www.ridetransit.org and our twitter account @CATSRidetransit.
