About
As thousands of fans make their way to the Queen City to attend the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Basketball Tournament February 27 – March 3, the Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) is ready to make sure visitors and commuters can get around safely and efficiently.

The Gold Rush Red Line will operate its regular route between Johnson C. Smith University and Central Piedmont Community College. However, beginning at noon on Tuesday, February 28 – Friday, March 2, the service will operate along Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard near the Hilton Garden Inn and on McDowell Street near the Blake Hotel.

The Gold Rush Orange Line will also operate its regular route until noon on Tuesday, February 28 – Friday, March 2.  Beginning at noon on Tuesday, the Orange Line will extend service to Mint Street and Stonewall Street, providing service to the Westin Hotel and the Residence Inn. Service to these areas will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 3.

The LYNX Blue Line provides fast, convenient light rail service to 15 stations between 1-485 at South Boulevard and Uptown Charlotte. Parking is free at seven park and ride locations and there is even front door service to the Time Warner Cable Arena.

Remember to take the Sprinter enhanced bus service when you’re traveling to and from the Charlotte-Douglas International Airport.  This service operates every 20 minutes from Center City Charlotte and every 30 minutes at night and on weekends.
