CATS Adjusts Routes to Reach New Development

IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Contact:  Judy Dellert-O'Keef, 704-432-0477

Beginning Monday, March 5, the Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) will make adjustments to several bus routes. “CATS strives to meet the needs of our customers and offer more convenient travel options as the community continues to grow,” said Larry Kopf, CATS Chief Operations Planning Officer. “Passengers will have easy access to the new Walmart on Independence Boulevard.” The schedule for Route 232 Grier Heights will be adjusted to reflect the new bus stop going to Walmart. The bus will enter Walmart from Pierson Drive and pick up passengers near the store’s shipping and receiving area.
Additional changes include:

  • 11 North Tryon – Three new inbound trips departing from the Charlotte AmTrak Station will operate seven days per week. The new trips are designed to meet AmTrak train arrivals for passengers arriving in Charlotte and traveling to Uptown.

  • 42 Carowinds and 44 Fort Mill – Routes 42 and 44 are merging. The new route will be 42 Carowinds and will travel to the Wells Fargo offices off Springhill Farm Road. Passengers wanting access to the Wells Fargo Mortgage Center will board at the I-485/South Boulevard light rail station instead of the Arrowood Station. There will be two additional morning and afternoon trips. Route 44 will no longer be in service.
