Charlotte, NC - The Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) and the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Planning Department will host a community workshop tomorrow, March 11 to provide an update on the LYNX Blue Line Extension (BLE) light rail construction activities and present the Draft University City Area Plan (UCAP) recommendations to the community for review and comment. The UCAP update includes Transit Station Area Plans for the University City Blvd, McCullough and JW Clay Blvd light rail stations as well as surrounding areas.

The BLE is a 9.3 mile extension of the LYNX Blue Line that will provide service from Uptown Charlotte to the UNC Charlotte campus and includes 11 light rail stations and four parking facilities. All stations will be serviced by CATS' network of feeder buses. The line is projected to begin operations in 2017.
