HEAR HOW CATS CUSTOMERS HELPED PLAN FOR BUS SERVICE ENHANCEMENTS

Charlotte, NC, August 11, 2011 - The Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) is in the final stages of developing the FY2013 through FY2017 Countywide Transit Service Plan (CTSP) bus service improvement plan. The CTSP bus route proposal provides CATS with a five-year bus service improvement plan for Mecklenburg County and the region. When the proposed plan is approved in early 2012, the CTSP will guide CATS’ strategy for year-by-year bus service enhancements.

CATS gathered feedback from the public last fall, meeting with almost 500 riders and area residents and receiving over 800 surveys completed at the meetings and online. “We developed routes based on ideas and suggestions from our customers,” said Larry Kopf, Chief Operations Planning Officer and Manager of Bus Operations for CATS. “CATS appreciates the input and strives to make improvements to get you where you need to go more efficiently. The Countywide Transit Service Plan helps CATS to continue to offer improved transportation choices while maintaining cost-effectiveness.”

There are seven public meetings remaining in August and September to present the proposed CTSP to the public. We encourage members of the community to attend and provide feedback on the proposals.
