Charlotte Area Transit System’s (CATS) Gold Rush Center City Circulator Service
will be in operation Tuesday, September 4 through Thursday, September 6 during the Democratic National Convention (DNC).
The Gold Rush Orange Line will operate from 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on September 4 and from 6:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on September 5. The Orange Line will run on Tryon Street from Morehead Street to Ninth Street. It will turn left onto Church Street and take a right onto Trade Street to Mint Street. The route will travel south on Mint Street back to Morehead and continue that same circle for Tuesday and Wednesday. On Thursday, September 6, the Orange Line will operate from 9:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. from Morehead Street up College Street to East Ninth Street then back down Tryon Street to Morehead in a continuous pattern.
The Gold Rush Red Line will operate September 4-6 from 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. The Red Line will go down Elizabeth Avenue to Charlottetown Avenue then up East Fourth Street to McDowell Street. This loop will operate the same route for these three days.
Several bus bays at the temporary Transit Center, located at Third and Mint Streets, will change locations at the site Wednesday afternoon, September 5 at 4:00 p.m. due to road closures. The temporary Transit Center
will operate normal business hours and provide customers with the same amenities they depend on every day when using transit such as air-conditioned waiting areas, concessions, ADA accessible public restrooms, safety and security, and pass sales. CATS Transit Ambassadors will be on site assisting customers with transfers and transit questions.
