CATS Installs Additional Bus Stop Signage During the DNC

Immediate Release - August 31, 2012

The Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) will add signage to uptown bus stops beginning Friday, August 31 to assist customers with the temporary route adjustments during the Democratic National Convention (DNC). Riders should check the bus stop signs for appropriate pick up and drop off locations.

Some Center City stops will be relocated or temporarily discontinued due to street closures. Some of the bus stop adjustments will be in place starting Sunday, September 2. However, most of the bus re-routing and stop changes take place from Monday, September 3 through Thursday, September 6. Signs will provide the following information: route numbers, relocated bus stops, temporarily closed stops and Gold Rush stops.
“CATS encourages riders to check the temporary signs to know where the nearest stop is as they plan for their daily commute during the DNC,” says Larry Kopf, Chief Operations Planning Officer and Manager of Bus Operations. “Buses will run on their regular schedules; however passengers should anticipate some delays and allow for extra travel time.”
