TRANSIT CUSTOMERS CAN NOW BUY PASSES WITH THE CLICK OF A MOUSE

Charlotte, N.C., January 21, 2010 - Buying your ticket to ride the Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) just got easier. For the very first time, customers can log on to www.ridetransit.org and buy round trip or one-day passes.  “CATS e-commerce site provides a safe and convenient option for customers to purchase tickets in advance.  Tickets can now be purchased anytime of time day from the comfort of your home or office,” said Kim Taylor, CATS Marketing Manager. “This is CATS first e-commerce project. Future phases may include online purchasing of additional pass/ticket types.”

To purchase online, customers need to select the tickets they wish to purchase, drop them into the shopping cart, and then complete their shipping and billing information.  The online site accepts VISA and MasterCard. All purchases must total at least $12 before mailing and processing fees are applied.  Passes purchased online can be picked up at the Charlotte Transportation Center at no charge or mailed to your address.  A $2.00 mailing and processing fee is applied to all orders that are mailed.  Customers should allow three to five days for delivery of passes that are mailed.  Passes purchased online are valid on the LYNX Blue Line and CATS fixed route services.

If you would like more information on how to buy your passes online or about CATS services, visit www.ridetransit.org or call (704) 336-RIDE (7433).
