CATS ANNOUNCES BUS MAINTENANCE ROADEO WINNERS

Charlotte, N.C., April 10, 2010 - Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) is pleased to announce the winners from its Fifth Annual Bus Maintenance Roadeo.  The Maintenance Roadeo gives employees a chance to demonstrate the skills and knowledge that they use every day to help CATS maintain a safe transit system.

First place honors in the maintenance competition went to the team consisting of Jeff Dahle, Greg Trogdon and Charles Jones. Second place went to the team of Craig Patch, Bernard Romero and Billy Belcher.  The third place team consisted of Ben Thompson, Jack Walker and Jake Patterson.  The maintenance teams were judged on speed and accuracy as they searched for vehicle defects such as shifting issues and transmission problems.

In the body shop competition the team of Mike Jenkins and Matthew Hendrick took first place while Ryan Stevens and Steve Smith took second.   Body shop teams had to replace a front window and passenger windows on a bus in a timed competition.

CATS Bus Maintenance helps keep over 320 transit buses safely on the road.  In FY2009, CATS logged over 13 million bus miles.  For more information about CATS and its services, visit www.ridetransit.org or call 704-336-RIDE (7433).
